Business Women Recognize Lassus Wherley Finance Firm

In recognition of their contributions to the advancement of women in careers, the financial services firm of Lassus Wherley & Associates will receive the Helen Dooley Edwards Award from the Summit Business and Professional Women's Club on Monday, March 19.

The Summit BPW dinner will be held at the Grand Summit Hotel, 570 Springfield Avenue.  Networking and cocktails begin at 6:15 p.m.; dinner is served at 6:45 p.m.  Cost of dinner is $25 for members and $30 for others.  For reservations, call 908-522-1551, no later than 10 a.m. on Friday, March 16. 

The Lassus Wherley firm will be the ninth recipient of the award, which recognizes an individual or an organization that has demonstrated the club's philosophy of advancing opportunities for women in business.  

In 1985, Clare E. Wherley and Diahann W. Lassus founded Lassus Wherley & Associates.  The wealth management firm, with offices in New Providence, New Jersey and Naples, Florida, provides comprehensive financial services. 

Ms. Wherley, a member and past president of Summit BPW, is a certified public accountant, and a certified financial plannerpractitioner.  She is also a member of the N.J. Association of Women Business Owners, treasurer of Resource Center for Women, board member and past president of SAGE, and a member of the Summit Rotary.  In 1995, she was honored as New Providence "Business Person of the Year."

Ms. Lassus is a certified financial plannerpractitioner.  An author and lecturer, she appears regularly on CNBC and is often quoted in many national publications.  In 1998, President Clinton appointed her to the Retirement Savings Summit in Washington, D.C.

In 1996, Governor Christine Whitman appointed her to the New Sources of Capital Board.  In 2000, Assembly Speaker Jack Collins appointed her to the Assembly Business Task Force.  

Ms. Lassus was named "Worth" magazine's top financial advisor four times, beginning in 1994 with the top 60 list. 

In addition to her affiliation with the National Association of Women Business Owners, the National Foundation of Women Business Owners, and the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners, she also serves on the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, 1998-2001.

Lassus and Wherley's firm has been dedicated to hiring women, agreeing to flexible work arrangements so that part-time and full-time employees can have an opportunity to earn a living and still raise a family.
