DocuBank®

According to a study in the Journal of
the American Medical Association, health care directives are unavailable in 75%
of the cases that they are needed. It’s frustrating to hear a statistic like
this when we know so many of you have taken the time, incurred the expense and
cared enough about those around you to make sure you have your documents in
place and up-to-date. So, we were delighted, recently, when we identified a new
service which we feel will be useful to many of you. DocuBank® is an emergency
access service for health care documents.
A membership in DocuBank® insures that if someone is seriously ill or injured,
his or her living will and/or health care power of attorney is readily
available. The service is important because in cases of accidents or illness
anywhere in the world, these documents may be needed and otherwise be
inaccessible.
The service works this way. Members are provided an emergency card to carry with
them that instructs the health care provider to contact DocuBank® immediately.
The card displays the name and phone number of a loved one and family physician,
as well as vital medical information, if desired. Meanwhile, DocuBank®
electronically stores a copy of your documents. When a request for information
arrives from a hospital, DocuBank® faxes the necessary documents immediately,
day or night, anywhere in the world. The hospital staff also receives the names
and phone numbers of two other emergency contacts as well as a primary
physician’s name and phone number.
We are pleased to announce that memberships are available to our clients at a
20% discount from the regular fee. The discounted cost currently is $24 per
person per year or $72 per person for five years. For clients who have signed up
for our Financial Planning Retainer program, during 2004 Lassus Wherley will pay
the five-year cost for one client and spouse in the household.
